The Mgoun mountains offer amazing treks with magnificent views, hidden villages, dramatic gorges, and a glimpse of Berber culture. The trek from the Ait Bougmez valley to the summit of Djebel Mgoun shows you a less crowded corner of Morocco than some of the more popular High Atlas routes. Mgoun Trekking
With its 4068m, Mount M’goun is the second highest peak of the Atlas Mountains. It has a very different landscape from Toubkal mixing mountains, high cliffs and wide valleys thoroughly cultivated.

This trip is runing along M'goun river and its fields, inhabitants and high Kasbahs. The natural landscaps are very famous : Gorges of M'goun, mountains....



M'goun Trekking Day to day trip itinerary
Day 01: Airoport - Marrakech
Arrival at Menara airport, assistance and transfer to your hotel, dinner and nigh, you would be received by our representative and then transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Marrakech - Ikkiss N'arrouss
Visit of some of North’s Africa largest waterfalls. Crossing of Aghbar pass with panoramic view of the M’Goun range. Discovery of Aït Abbas Valley (red valley), and then arrival at Aït Bougmmaz Valley (happy valley). Meeting with our mule drivers and then immediate departure for the trek. Crossing Arous village. Camping near a sheep pasture and a spring.
Day 03: Ikkiss N'arouss - Plateau Talguedit 2900m
Crossing Aghrow pass with view of the highest crest of M’Goun (4068 m). Camping in the pastures.
Day 04: Plateau Talguedit - Oulilimte
Ascent of the highest peak in the region : the M’Goun. We follow a small pass, and then a long curved and comfortable crest to discover the Atlas and desert world. People who prefer to not ascend this mountain can follow the mule team towards the campground. Meeting with nomads and their dromedaries. Camping near the spring of the wadi M’Goun.
Day 05: Oulilimte - Ait Hemd Kasbah 2250m
Easier trek with the possibility to go trough the gorge of Oulilimt. Camping near the wadi M’Goun and the Aït Ahmed Kasbah.
Day 06: Ait Hemd Kasbah - Imi N'rekt 1920m
We will walk along the M’Goun via an excellent path with no difficult streches and discover the Berber villages of Taghreft (2150 m), Waouchki and Ighrem Izdaren. We can see irrigated terraces and small farms where apples and potatoes are cultivated. Camping near the river at the entrance of the gorge.
Day 07: Imi N'rekt - Tighanimine 1790m
We will reach the most spectacular part of the M’goun gorge, which is protected under the national preservation program. The gorge creates a very long canyon of 1500 m. During this section, we will continue the trek exclusively in the water and creek beds ( River or Valley M’Goun). Overnight with local people .
Day 08: Tighanimine - Bouteghrare 1580m
Now the path crosses the river without stopping and we will reach the pretty village of Boutaghrar (gateway to the desert) after the Berber villages of Aguerzaka (1730 m), Issoumar (1680 m) and Timglouna (1605 m) (outstanding Ksars and Kasbahs). Night in a gite.
Day 09: Bouteghrare - Ouarzazate - Marrakech
We will cross the little town of Kalaat Mgouna (Roses Valley), then Ouarzazate (capital of the desert). We will cross the road pass of Tizi N'Tichka (2260 m). Night in hotel or Ryad in Marrakech.
Day 10: Marrakech - Airoport
We ensure a transfer and assistance with formalities at Menara airport, the schedules of your flight should allow it this time.
